Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible to ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions, The Senior Accountant prepares accurate and timely financial statements and documents. This position is responsible for performing balance sheet, revenue, expense, and payroll account reconciliations, as well as executing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. The Senior Accountant analyzes financial statements for discrepancies and is a professional with inherent leadership qualities and the attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate reporting in all areas. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

Key Activities:

  • Prepare and record journal entries and perform reconciliations to support the monthly close, timely and in accordance with GAAP
  • Work collaboratively with Operations to prepare accruals and estimates
  • Ensure accounts are supported by timely and accurate reconciliations
  • Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations responsible for fixed asset roll forward and assigning depreciable lives
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports
  • Support the planning and execution of external audits and internal control review of business processes monitor the workflow of accounting tasks/functions within the department; proactively make and implement recommendations that provide opportunities to increase the operational effectiveness and efficiency of operations Ensure all state and local regulatory requirements are met timely
  • Support and cross-train with Accounting Manager to assist in workload if necessary Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
  • Provide input into department’s KPls
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns
  • Liaise with VP of Finance and Accounting manager to improve financial procedure

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
  • 4-7 yrs. Experience in industry or public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and business processes
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
  • CPA Certification
  • Knowledge of Sage 100 and Sage 500
