Job Description

Position Summary:

The SQF Manager will be responsible to develop, implement, and oversee SQF policies, and procedures, with continuous improvement for a mid-size USDA Inspected meat processing operation.  The successful candidate will be responsible to lead and coordinate SQF guidance, training, and conformance with various upstream and downstream departments.

Key Activities:

  • Develop and provide training for food safety and quality requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as SOP’s, as well as maintenance of manuals, policies and procedures as relates to food safety concerns
  • Conduct facility food safety audits and corrective actions as well as manage third party audits
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that facility meets SQF code standards
  • Update existing SQF procedures and documentation and keep up with changing requirements through continuous improvement
  • Assist buyers with training and educating potential suppliers to ensure compliance
  • Work closely with Operations Managers on SQF issues and conformance to code
  • Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation of all facility to comply with food safety requirements
  • Ensure that all SQF code procedures are followed and documented correctly
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of food safety experience, with management level experience in HACCP, USDA, SQF, internal and external auditing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, SOPs, SPS, GMP’s, in meat processing
  • Experience and maturity in sound judgement relating to food safety
  • Customer Service oriented; both internally and externally
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Able to work unsupervised and manage independently
  • Have strong organizational and communication skills and proficiency in English reading and writing
  • Must be flexible with work hours and days
