Job Description

Position Summary:

Sanitation & Safety Manager will be responsible for managing all cleaning personnel as well as supervising the sanitation and safety of the plant and its surroundings. The manufacturing of Dietary Supplements in accordance with FDA cGMP and other regulatory requirements necessitates a variety of SOP’s to be followed and documented regarding sanitation and safety, and the successful candidate will be able to manage people and paperwork with ease.

Key Activities:

  • Manage the Sanitation Program to meet FDA and cGMP Dietary Supplement Safety Code requirements
  • Lead and direct the team of sanitation employees
  • Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, policies & procedures pertaining to food safety, and other company policies
  • Work closely with the Director of Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance, Quality Control (techs and management), and other departments on continuous improvement across the facility and sanitation based lean initiatives
  • Train staff on chemical safety, use of sanitation equipment, sanitation procedures, and company policies
  • Create, update, train on, and maintain Sanitation SOP’s
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and participate in internal and external audits
  • Participate in the Safety Committee meetings, identifying and correcting any and all safety issues
  • Display individual leadership skills, resolve problems/conflicts, and mentor/coach as needed
  • Provide input and leadership on sanitary design of equipment and building changes or capital projects
  • Manage chemical and cleaning supply inventories
  • Manage the Integrated Pest Control program
  • Work collaboratively to continuously improve sanitation and reduce downtime
  • Identify areas for process improvements through analysis of process data and review
  • Complete corrective/preventive actions for issues related to sanitation, identify root causes and ability to follow up
  • Prepare reports and correspondence and to perform analytical tasks
  • Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience in related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience, including management experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HACCP, and FDA cGMP regulations (food, supplements, and/or pharmaceuticals)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and sanitation requirements to meet personnel safety, food safety, and quality standards
  • Experience in training sanitation and production personnel
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work well as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
  • Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English
