Job Description

Position Summary:

 

Production Manager will be responsible for all aspects of this 24/5 high-volume production environment including: safety, quality, production management, personnel management, supervising up to 25 machine operators, technical solutions, materials management, reporting, training, etc.

 

Key Activities:

 

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Attains production goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Set individual goals and objectives, provide feedback and conduct formal performance reviews.
  • Acts on employee suggestions/concerns and provide employee recognition.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Implements Best Practices for product and manufacturing specifications; and help establish key performance indicators to measure and improve manufacturing capabilities and costs.
  • Ensures production requirements are analyzed and work assigned, based on capacity and capability of employees and processes, to achieve production schedule and goals.
  • Assists with training employees with regards to safety, quality and job-related functions.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Review and implement strong corrective actions for Quality escapes (internal or external).
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Ensure that tooling and equipment is properly maintained and regular preventative maintenance performed on critical machinery.

 

Required Qualification:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent work experience of 5 -10 years.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong statistical and mathematical skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with well developed organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer knowledge in Windows based programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Power point, Access, etc.).
  • Previous Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and extrusion experience (preferred).
  • Experience with ISO 9000 requirements (preferred).
