Job Description

Position Summary:


Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing processes to ensure products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.


Key Activities:


  • Develops, implements, and oversees HACCP, SSOP, FDA, and GMP guidelines, policies, and processes related to food safety and quality assurance in food manufacturing facilities.
  • Maintains, audits, and improves pre-operation and operation SSOP programs.
  • Manages, reassesses, and improves regulatory HACCP programs.
  • Communicates quality standards and parameters to FSQA team, upper management, and other appropriate staff and ensures compliance with these standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory policies, directives, and notices, and provides effective liaison with USDA, government regulatory agencies, and organic certifying agency.
  • Responds to USDA regulatory noncompliance records in a timely and effective manner.
  • Coordinates product testing processes and participates in product testing.
  • Establishes and monitors effective sampling, recording, and analysis of test results for process control verification of pathogen reduction standards.
  • Identifies and analyzes issues, defects, and other problems; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues and modifies procedures or systems to prevent recurrences.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.


Required Qualification:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of related experience in food safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two years of managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of FDA and GMP guidelines for food manufacturing facilities.
  • HACCP / HARPC Certified.
  • BRC or SQF Certified.
  • Organic Certification.
  • Experience in developing and managing an internal Food Safety and Quality program.
  • Experience in Auditing, including food safety audits, supplier audits, and compliance inspections.
