Job Description

Position Summary:


Electro-Mechanical Technician will be responsible for maintaining machines with respect to completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, utility and production machines.


Key Activities:


  • Observe mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Complete electrical repair involving motors.
  • (AC, DC, Multi –Phase), controls and other electrical equipment.
  • Operate shop equipment and machinery with acceptable precision and accuracy.
  • Pipefitting, including installation, repair, replacement, pumps and compressors, valves and controls, air compressors, and related controls.
  • Check stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; place requests to Maintenance Buyer for needed parts and then verify receipt of purchase
  • Complete reasonable job layouts and ordering of materials necessary to complete job.
  • Accurately complete work orders and PM’s in Maximo, including checking out of parts.
  • Maintain, clean and organize work area.
  • Maintain open line of communication with all line workers and departmental supervisor.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.
  • Perform other work duties as assigned.
  • Apply the safety rules and ensure they are implemented and followed.
  • Participate in analyzing occupational hazards.
  • Prevent potential risks.
  • Take necessary measures if people are performing unsafe acts or are in an unsafe environment.
  • Follow quality programs  to ensure the quality and specifications of product are continually met.
  • Alert supervisor and/or manager when there is deviation from  quality policies and standards.
  • Follow food safety programs throughout the plant.
  • Responsible to complete form # MAINT RF 001 when working in a product contact area (when products are present).
  • Alert his supervisor/manager when there is deviation from food safety policies and standards.


Required Qualification:


  • Trade School level of Electrical or Mechanical training preferred.
  • Previous employment in a food industry setting is preferred.
  • Computer software and basic mathematical skills are required (must be able to convert US to metric, read a tape measure, caliper and micrometer).
  • Electrical and mechanical repair on production and utility equipment.
