Job Description

Position Summary:

Director of Quality and Food Safety Manager near SALEM, MA will be responsible for leading and coordinating all activities of QA Technicians and Sanitation departments while providing technical guidance and support to production departments for continuous improvement of product processes and services for further processing of RTE foods.  Management will be overseeing up to 25 on the Quality Team and multiple facilities.

Key Activities:

  • Ensure quality systems are optimized to ensure ongoing product quality and product performance
  • Oversee all quality, food safety and Regulatory requirements
  • Perform analysis of all quality data and present findings
  • Oversee all USDA / FDA/ FSMA / HACCP audits and visits
  • Plan all SQF / GIG / Organic / Halal / Institutional audits
  • Solicit feedback from FSQA and Ops teams to ensure quality programs are functional and what needs to be improved Lead customer audits or ensure resources are aligned to lead the audits
  • Collaborate with internal communication team to ensure quality message is delivered to Team Members
  • Develop and deliver (or ensure it has been delivered) quality related training to all stakeholders (operations, sales)
  • Lead organizational efforts to continuously improve Quality results
  • Prepare responses back to significant/complex customer quality concerns
  • Provide trouble-shooting support to plant FSQA teams
  • Lead collaboration efforts regarding product expectations
  • Based on attributes defined in specification, ensure checks are in place to comply
  • Communicate and troubleshoot with significant customers regarding any issues with meeting specifications
  • Review results from shelf life assessment program and coordinate resources to establish action items to address deviations
  • Collaborate with operations & FSQA team to establish quality targets/KPIs
  • Evaluate and ensure ongoing effectiveness of quality programs
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or relevant discipline or equivalent related experience, Masters degree preferred
  • Prefer background in RTE food involved with USDA
  • 8 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment in a USDA environment
  • HACCP certification, FSMA and SQF experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have management and leadership skills
