Job Description

Position Summary:


Director Business Development will be responsible for leading and supporting sales team to achieve revenue goals.


Key Activities:


  • Provides leadership, accountability and support for Company Sales Representatives.
  • Ensures that Company top line sales and sales/marketing expenses meet or exceed forecast and profit goals.
  • Manages key customer relationships to ensure and enhance profitable and secure customer relationships.  
  • Develops annual Company marketing and sales strategies that ensure long-term revenue growth.
  • Provides daily leadership and support for our sales representatives with their needs for job pricing, customer relationships and meetings, Company relationships, project management and other needs.
  • Personally reviews and determines pricing for all customer job quotes over $10,000.
  • Develops and provides a weekly sales activity report to the Leadership Team.
  • Conducts sales meetings monthly or more frequently.
  • Annually sets revenue, profitability, growth and new customer conversion goals with each sales representative and reviews progress on a regular basis.
  • Requires an annual account plan from each sales representative for their top three accounts and top 20 customers, with a focus on customer retention and growth opportunities.  
  • Aligns and focuses our sales team on those opportunities where the great opportunity exists for higher volume and profitability.
  • When additional sales representative positions are approved by management, works with human resources and participates in the interviewing and hiring of new sales representatives.
  • Has final decision authority of hiring new sales representatives.
  • Ensures that a robust and effective on-boarding/mentoring/training program is implemented for new sales representatives, and reviews progress on a regular basis.
  • Determines what constitutes under-performance of a sales representative and is diligent about first “managing up” or second, “managing out” of sales team members who don’t maintain a minimum performance.  

Required Qualification:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
