Overview

Position Summary:

The Director of Product Development and QC will be responsible for managing Product Development Department with in a laboratory setting. This position works closely with the Sales Department to develop, research, and prepare dry mixes. This position oversees a team of 8 and will be manage product development and quality control.

Key Activities:

  • Develop formulations of Dry mixes and Mill mixes.
  • Responsible for Product Development – ensure projects are being completed in a timely manner and are correct when going to customer
  • Lead continuing internal product quality review program for current formulas and manage consumer feedback.
  • Responsible for Lab Technicians training and accuracy procedures
  • Work with ingredient suppliers when issues arise in formulations
  • Responsible for disposition of Hold and Rework products
  • Investigate quality issues and find a resolution
  • Responsible for activities involving formulation and manufacturing instruction
  • Ensure compliance to quality control testing
  • Investigate quality issues and find a resolution
  • Review lab data for accuracy
  • Develop product labels using knowledge of latest FDA and USDA requirements.
  • Generate COA’s for outgoing shipments to customers
  • Responsible for purchasing new lab equipment
  • Manage customer requests for new and existing products and work with customer’s R&D staff.
  • Manage Vendor samples, new ingredients, and specification sheets.
  • Work with our sales team for customer recipe development, sampling, product handling, training and any other Product Development related business.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Food Science, Agriculture or relevant background.
  • 2 years of experience of Product development in a food-related business, milling, dry mixes and blends
  • Experience with quality control and laboratory background
  • Candidates must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts
  • Create written reports and have basic computer skills
